Different Features and Printing Effects of Coated Paper with Different Grammages
View count:843 Time:8月 25, 2026

In the packaging and printing industry, coated paper is widely used for its smooth surface and excellent ink absorption, and its grammage directly determines its characteristics and printing effects. Common grammages of coated paper in packaging printing range from 80g to 300g, each suitable for different packaging scenarios.

Light grammage coated paper (80g-105g) is thin, light and flexible, with good transparency. It is mainly used for inner pages of packaging brochures or light packaging inserts. Its printing effect is clear, but the color saturation is slightly insufficient, and it is not suitable for heavy ink printing to avoid paper wrinkling.

Medium grammage coated paper (128g-157g) is the most commonly used specification, with moderate thickness and good stiffness. It has excellent ink coverage, bright printed colors and clear layers, suitable for commodity packaging boxes, labels and leaflets. It can also adapt to simple post-printing processes such as film lamination.

Heavy grammage coated paper (200g-300g) is thick and stiff, with high surface smoothness and strong wear resistance. Its printing effect is vivid and three-dimensional, with high color reproduction. It is ideal for high-end packaging boxes, gift boxes and premium product labels, and can withstand complex post-printing processes like hot stamping and embossing, enhancing the packaging grade.
